(Oakville, ON) March 17, 2021 – Oakville Hydro is pleased to receive another Canadian Electricity Association (CEA) Centre of Excellence Award. This time, the award acknowledges the organization for its innovative Spatial Data Intelligence project, which is an initiative designed to improve Oakville Hydro’s spatial data resources through inter-departmental collaboration and alignment in the pursuit of data excellence.

“The spatial data intelligence project is the foundation for optimizing our asset renewal program, providing valuable insights into the health of our distribution system and improvements to reliability,” said Scott Mudie, COO of Oakville Hydro. "Each member of the project team understands the importance and value of spatial data and how it helps everyday safety and customer satisfaction.”

“Oakville Hydro continues to impress the electricity sector with its exciting innovations,” said Julia Muggeridge, Vice President, Marketing and Communications at the CEA. “The Centre of Excellence award was designed to honour the innovative solutions designed and developed by our member organizations. Oakville Hydro’s Spatial Data Roadmap is one such innovation that has been awarded at the national level. What really stood out to CEA was how this technology is focused on the customer experience, reducing outage time by quickly identifying equipment failure. Congratulations to Oakville Hydro.”

The project quickly evolved into a journey to improve the organization’s data utilization model, allowing it to better integrate with artificial intelligence (AI) for decision-making practices, which will lead to less power interruptions. It is an ambitious initiative that will help Oakville Hydro adopt the latest disruptive technologies. To learn more, visit this link.
